Sheila Self, The Cross Ministries and Karen Cook, Cook Ministries have joined forces to present a combined study in the history of suicide and a Biblical approach to have freedom.
After my brother's suicide death, I kept hearing people tell me "just breathe" - I was struggling to find peace and even the desire to live.
Although my brother and I were supposed to go into the studio together, I continued writing songs as God gave me and one is titled "Just Breathe".
As time went on, I got physically sick although multiple doctor visits came with multiple inhalers and prescription medications, I was still sick and coughing yet the doctors could not find anything wrong with me.
One day my daughter, Elizabeth said, 'mom it's kind of funny you just wrote a song called "just breathe" and you can't even breathe' - when she said that it was like a light switch that turned on, I knew at that very moment, this was a spiritual attack and there were no man-made medications going to help, I needed deliverance from my hurt and only God could bring that freedom.
I know that if God can do it for me, HE can do it for you, too and I pray you find freedom from your hurt!

Sheila is married to her best friend & biggest supporter; Gary Self and they are founders of The Cross Ministries.
In December 2012 she had a supernatural encounter. She felt the presence of God & was set free from all her sins & delivered from bondage. She was given a new heart, had an open vision & received anointing all in a short time. The experience radically changed her life forever! She had a vision of a sign that read: The Cross that is where everything began.
In January 2015 She started volunteering at a women's home in Cullman. It created a hunger in her to learn more & she found herself growing in a sense of leadership. Soon after a friend invited her to go to the Cullman County Jail & witness to the girls. That very first visit moved her spirit so much that she made it the heart of her ministry.
With the Lord's grace, she continued to pray & after several months she and Gary felt led to open one of their rental properties for a women's home, The Grace House. The Grace House facilitates 10 ladies. Since it has opened she's noticed that the very same changes she saw in the jail are still happening there at the Grace House & the ladies are thriving as they learn who they are in Christ.
She is now serving as Director of The Cross Ministries, where she Biblically counsels with ones searching for freedom.
It has been a long hard journey, but it has been worth it. They are both so thankful to God for the transforming work he is doing in their lives.
All praise honor and glory to Jesus Christ our Savior.

“Sometimes people are struggling with life & carrying a smile always trying to be strong, so be kind to the people you meet, you never know what is going on in their life. A kind word may be all it takes to help them thru another day.”
